Continuous Discovery
Back to the frameworks catalog
Continuous Discovery treats discovery as a weekly team habit, not a separate project with a final report. Teresa Torres collected the approach in Continuous Discovery Habits: talk to customers every week, put opportunities on an Opportunity Solution Tree, and test hypotheses with small experiments.
Core habits
- Weekly interviews: at least one structured customer conversation a week, not a research wave every quarter.
- Three in the room: the product manager, a designer, and an engineer hear the same story so the translation from need to solution does not drift.
- Hypotheses, not ideas: every solution is a claim you can disprove.
- Cheap tests: before a build sprint, reduce risk with a prototype, a fake door, or a message test.
When it helps
When the team only delivers, then learns after release that it solved the wrong problem. Continuous Discovery feeds Dual-Track Agile: discovery and delivery move in parallel.
